Session One: Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Does ADHD actually exist or is it lack of discipline? Learn about the diagnostic criteria associated with this diagnosis and the various ways in which it may present itself! This session will also explore a variety of ways in which a classroom setting can support students with an ADHD diagnosis!
Session Two: Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Conduct Disorder
Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Conduct Disorder can be very difficult to work with in a school setting! During this session, participants will learn strategies to align with students to elicit intrinsic motivation! Additionally, we will break down behavioral change concepts to understand how to better assist students to reach their full potential.
Session Three: Depression and Anxiety
One of the unique things about the child and adolescent population is that depression and anxiety may present themselves through frustration and anger. This can make it extremely difficult to understand the root cause of specific behaviors! During this session, we will learn about the diagnostic criteria for these diagnoses and become better equipped to detect when a student may be experiencing them. Participants will also learn research based strategies to assist in calming the mind in all settings!
Session Four: Trauma Related Disorders
Trauma is pervasive. Recent research is indicating that as many as 67% of individuals will experience trauma before entering into adulthood. Due to the toxic stress, it becomes extremely difficult for students to engage their brains in academic settings. During this session, participants will actually learn how to rewire the brains and helps students implement coping skills to be used both inside and outside the classroom!
